| I'm starting to hate online purchasing. I just got fucked over buying a copy of windows. The guy shipped a DELL OEM disk, instead of the actual OEM disk he was supposed to. So, no he claims he'll issue a refund, but you never know. Now I'll be going through all the work of getting a refund and such. What a BITCH.
Hopefully I'll get through all this without losing much money. And then as soon as I get as much back as I'm going to I'll be going on newegg and buying a copy of home, since its about the same price and I know I'll get the right thing. Course, I'll be talking to mr. trembley about it, see what he has to say about it. | comments: Leave a comment |
| I am so exhausted right now it isn't funny. Last night, I got less than 2 hours of sleep. The night before, 3, and the night before that 3. The entire weekend before that I got around 13 hours of sleep. And now, if I go to sleep right now, I'll get 3 1/2. Hopefully I won't be so tired I have to tape BSG/Stargate this evening.
I just finished watching The Punisher. I've got a copy on my computer, and just haven't watched it in a while. I like the movie, but it always leaves me just a little disapointed.
Turns out I've created a new Magic (the gathering) format. Feel free to play if you like, so far everyone who has played has agreed that it is one of the more fun casual formats.
All decks must be based off of a theme deck. Any theme deck, from any expansion. These theme decks may be modified, and have a sideboard added. However, all cards in the deck or sideboard must fit the STATED theme on the back of the deck box. If the deck came with cards which do not fit precisely with the theme, they may be left in, however, no card that does not fit with the theme may not be added (IE, the spirit precon can't play, for instance, cranial extraction).
In addition, ALL banned and restricted lists are enforced. Any card banned or restricted in any (dci/league) format may not be played, unless they were in the original pre-con. | comments: Leave a comment |
| Wow. One of my resolutions was to post on this thing at least twice a week. Guess what? I haven't.
Well, here's a nice late one. Right now I 'm doing an entercational flash animation. In case you don't know what entercational is, its sorta like edutainment, only the oposite. Instead of something educational which someone attempted to make "fun", but did a bad job at, we started with something humurous, and made it "educational", poorly. Its about ethnic groups and the election in 1920. Odd combination, even odder aniamtion. I'll have to post it once we get all the special feature put together. There are plans for an un-educational version where we cut out all the educational sections, an un-edited version (we do a Sally Struthers in which she says ass). That, and a commentary version, along with production tapes (we did an hour and a half long recording of what it sounds like when people animate stuff), and some of the more humorous parts before they were cleaned up and made semi-educational. Plus a special series of sounds in which I was figuring out the best way to censor stuff out (it sounds hillarious).
That, and I'm updating my WMP library. Turns out I've got well over 2k songs on this computer. I know, I'm working on doing better. Problem is, I've resolved not to illegally download anything any more, so a good 1600+ songs of that is techno. | comments: Leave a comment |
| Well, its been a while since I've posted here. A long while. However, I'm back to posting, as one of my new years resolutions I said I'd be posting here at least twice a week.
For those of you who want to know, I've been busy lately getting my Microsoft certifications. So far I've been in the newspaper for it twice now, and now have my MCP and MCDST certifications. Basically, that means I know windows XP real good.
Also, I've very recently started playing Runescape some more. Very recently in fact, within the past two weeks or so. If you don't play, I'd suggest trying it out, its a decent game (plus its java, so you can play it just about anywhere, even on your PSP!). For those of you who do, my username is KhamulNazgul. While I don't want to mooching off me, if you need anything, I can make a decent amount so don't be afraid to ask if you need something (within reason). I've also been working on the runescape forums a lot, specifically on the tech support forum. Seems I'm now rather more knowledgable than your average internet user, and thanks to that MCDST certification, I've gotten very good at distilling a post to what the actual problem is.
If you're wondering about my other resolutions, I've got a few of the usual, you know, take better care of my teeth, exercise more, that kind of stuff. But then, one of my other resolutions is to start working with images again. A year or two ago I made a series of flash animations (very basic ones), and did a lot of image editing. But since then, I really haven't done much with either. That, coupled with the fact that this image is for a movie that came out 4 months ago prompted me to resolve to make more images. I'll make up a nice suite of them for use, plus try and make a few flash games. | comments: Leave a comment |
| Yeah. I'm sorta going crazy over Firefly. Greatest show EVER. Beats out everything. And I mean EVERYTHING. Watch it on Sci-fi. Or buy the DVDs. And then go see the Movie. Remember 9.30.05!
Feel free to use my image if you want. | comments: Leave a comment |
| Well, I'm getting hyped up right now for Friday's premier of Firefly. I know, techincally it isn't a premier, but it is in that its finally being reshown.
For those of you who don't know, Firefly is a really awesome Sci-fi show in which Earth lost a battle, and almost everybody died. A ship called the Firefly got away, and wandered the galaxy. A lot like the show Andromeda. Except they do a lot more random violence, since it was a Fox show. But, like Fox does with all the really great shows, they canceled it. Even though they had a rather large following (ok, not that big, but decent sized), which was really dedicated. So, over the course of, I believe 3 years, this group of fans (and crew members, who really liked the show) petitioned just about anyone they could think of. However, Fox wants immense amounts of money for the shows they cancel, making it a rather bad decision to try a buy the rights, because the price Fox sets is almost gauranteed to be higher than the profits you'll make from showing the show.
During this time, rumors floated around about a Firefly movie, which fans finally got to be made, because that didn't require rights for. With this coming out later this year (they're already showed unedited preivews in some cities, almost all of which sold out the same day tickets went on sale. And with this, Sci-fi channel bought the rights from Fox, and will be reshowing the original show starting Friday at 7 P.M. Also, if they get good enough ratings, they plan on creating new episodes.
So, what I'm really trying to say here, is if you have the ability to do so, watch it this Friday, then watch the movie when it comes out. | comments: Leave a comment |
| Well, I finished the book. I've been on our libraries waiting list since about the time it was entered into their records. BEFORE you read on, I must warn you, there will be spoilers, to some degree (it will KILL the book for you if you haven't finished it).
So, first of all, I feel a need to start with my expectations of the book. Up to this point, I had honestly seen Rowlings work as piss-ass poor, and barely worth reading. Her plots were child-ish and un-imaginative, the few interesting details in her book were taking from mythology, and she had built up Harry as a far too powerful character.
That all changed by the time I'd finished the half blood prince. I've finally seen some original work, and a rather original set of story arcs. I still believe the work to be rather child-ish, as she still insists on using only a single set of story arcs at a time (ie, not involving outside influences much). However, I am finally impressed by her work.
BEGIN SPOILER
The first half of the book was rather un-impressive, while I believe foreshadowing is a horrible writing crutch, she did it in the ONLY way I aprove of it: mis-leadingly. By the time Christmas came around (knowing that someone must die), I was convinced Luna was going to die, she'd somehow managed to integrate herself into the storyline. Then Rowling dropped her. Similarly, I was rather convinced that Riddle was the HBP, seeing as that would fit, and his habit for testing out new things. Snape was a surprise, I didn't see it untill the fight.
In the same way, the arc between Dumbledore and Harry was poorly done, up until they leave for the horcrux. At that point, it is finally becoming a tanagible arc. I was rather amazed when she did a "evil-genius monolouge" style confrontation, after how much her work had progressed, the evil-genius monolouge should only be used in mocking. I was glad when Snape ended it.
In all, the until the very end of the book, it was written poorly, at the climax however, I finally saw something worthwhile. It seemed much like, oh, the wiess/hickman books, until they took on the dragonlance series, they were mostly poorly written, and unimpressive. Rowlings authorial maturing was much more distilled, and couldn't have happened at a better time. | comments: Leave a comment |

| Well, I'm back from vacation. Actually, I've been back since Sunday, but I've been recovering from the trip. I'll try to finish uploading the pictures today, we have almost 450 MB to upload on a dial-up connection, so it may be difficult. I have however found a rather interesting way to store them all, and I'm sure you'll all apreciate it when I show you.
As a rather small amount of you may know, the sci-fi channel kicks off its Friday night Summer season tonight. Basically, that means that tonight, they will be showing new episodes of Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis, and Battlestar Galactica. If you can't manage to watch them tonight, I'd suggest trying to find a torrent for them some place. Don't worry, Sci-fi won't go after you, they did a study and found that because of torrents of the new Battlestar Galactica, they managed to triple the ratings on it. So, they don't mind you downloading it. Just search google for: "Stargate 9x01 torrent", "Stargate Atlantis 2x01 torrent", and "Battlestar Galactica 2x01 torrent". As long as you have broadband, or some high speed connection, you'll have it finished in a few days. If you're stuck with dial-up, try to have it on ALL the time, and it'll be done by next Friday. | comments: Leave a comment |
| I hate to have to do it this way, but this is my next post. You see, i'm at a museum, and their maxs don't have to best browser, so a lot of stuff got screwed up. One of those things is the text box for the new posts. So, this is just a comment, until i can manage to get on to another computer and transfer it. (no longer on that computer, fixed.)
Wow. This is actually REALLY scary. At least for us American kids. Can you say, Big Brother? (If you are, for some reason required to log in, remember Bug Me Not, always useful) I must say, this is rather disturbing. I'm not sure which would be worse, sending in the info, or being requested for military service.
Also, for anyone who cares, i'm having a great vacation so far, and i'll try to be back to regular posting in about 2 1/2 weeks. | comments: Leave a comment |

| well, to start things off with a new blog, i've come up with a rather interesting link... How to destroy the world . Rather informative, if you have any megalomaniacal tendencies, you'll probably find it very informative.
I most enjoyed his theory on making the sun nova by using superheavy metals. Fun.
Hopefully this new blog will get some decent reading, and all, since most of my other projects have failed. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
